Honours, application eligibility, the application process, and other
important issues.


Honours Professional Admission Circular 2021

Admission circular for 1st-year undergraduate (Honours) professional course in
2020-2021 academic year was published on 7th September. The online admission
process will start at 4 pm on September 12 and will continue till 12 am on
September 28, 2021. It is to be noted that all concerned have to complete the
admission process online in compliance with all the health rules related to the
covid-19 epidemic.

You have to pay 300 BDT as a primary application fee to the college where you
applied.

How to Apply for NU Honours Professional

The applicant must fill up the online application form and no direct
application will be accepted. Below is some important information regarding
online applications.

The applicant will complete the application by going to the Professional Tab
of the Admissions website (www.nu.ac.bd/admissions) and clicking on the Apply
Now (Hons. Professional) option.

All the information required to apply

  • Secondary/equivalent examination rail number and registration number.
  • Higher Secondary/equivalent Examination Rail Number and Registration Number.
  • Name of Education Board/University.
  • Year of passing both exams.
  • Registered mobile number.
  • Scanned copy of passport size color photo (120×150 pixels)
  • Preference order of college and subject.
  • Original certificate issued by the appropriate authority in case of quota
    application.

At the end of the application, the applicant has to download the form and
collect the print/pdf copy on [A4 (8.5”×11”)] offset white paper.

Note that if a male applicant applies to a female college due to gender error,
his application will be considered rejected.

The applicant has to check that all the information and pictures displayed in
his initial application form are correct. If there is any discrepancy or
inaccurate picture in the application form, it should be corrected.


1. To modify the application form, the applicant has to go to the
Professional Login link
in the
Applicant Login
option and log in with the roll number and PIN entry of the application form.

2. At this stage the applicant, after clicking on the Form Cancel/Photo Change
option and selecting the Click to Generate the Security Key option, the
applicant will get a One Time Password (OTP) via SMS to the personal mobile
number mentioned in the application form.

3. Upon entering the OTP, the applicant will be able to cancel his/her
application, fill out a new application form and upload a new photo.

Note that the applicant will have the opportunity to cancel the form only
once. Once the initial application form is confirmed by the college, the
applicant can no longer cancel the form.

Information about the Honours Professional release slip

Applicants who do not get a place in the merit list or will cancel the
admission after getting admission in the merit list or will not get admission
in the allotted course even after getting a place in the merit list will be
able to apply for a release slip by setting course preference separately in
three colleges. All applicants whose initial application has not been
confirmed by the college will not be able to apply on the release slip.

Requirement for NU Honours Professional Admission

∎ Students who have obtained a minimum GPA of 2.50 in SSC and equivalent
examinations of 2016/2017/2017 and a minimum GPA of 2.50 in HSC and equivalent
examinations of 2018/2019/2020 including 4th subject from any recognized
Board/Open University Humanities Branch can apply.

∎ Students who have obtained a minimum GPA of 3.00 in SSC and equivalent
examinations of 2016/2017/2018 and a minimum GPA of 2.50 including 4th subject
in HSC and equivalent examinations of 2018/2019/2020 from any recognized
education board / Open University science and business will be able to apply.

∎ HSC from Bangladesh Technical Education Board. (Vocational), H.S.C.
(Business Management), Diploma-in-Commerce students can apply subject to
certain conditions.

∎ Eligible courses will be determined from the subjects studied in the Higher
Secondary and equivalent examinations of the applicants. Must have a minimum
grade point of 3.0 (within 200 marks).

∎ Students who have passed at least four subjects including B-grade in three
subjects in the O-Level examination of 2016/2017/2018 and passed at least two
subjects including ‘B’ grade in one subject in the A-Level examination of
2018/2019/2020 can apply in this admission program subject to other
conditions. See details in the admission notice.

∎ Graduation (Honours), Graduation (Honours) Professional, and Graduation
(Pass) in the 2018-2019 or 2019-2020 academic year under the National
University. Can not be admitted to professional courses. However, by canceling
the admission of the previous academic year, admission can be made in the 1st
year undergraduate (Honours) professional course in the 2020-2021 academic
year.

∎ In the same academic year or two different academic years, if a student gets
double admission in undergraduate (Honours), undergraduate (Honours)
professional, and graduate (pass) regular/private courses, both his/her
admissions will be considered void.

Honors Professional Admission Procedure, Number Distribution and Results

∎ A separate course-based merit list will be prepared for each college based
on the results of the SSC and HSC examinations of the candidates applying for
admission.

∎ A separate merit list will be prepared for each college and the course will
be allotted to the 1st year undergraduate (honors) professional admission
program according to the preference of the candidates.

∎ If two or more applicants for the same course in the same
institution/college have the same qualification, then merit will be prepared
for all the applicants based on the following topics,

  • 40% and 60% of GPA obtained in the SSC and HSC examinations (including 4th
    subject) will be added.
  • 40% and 60% marks will be added from the SSC and HSC examinations if
    required.
  • Even after this, if the merit of two or more applicants is still the same,
    then the merit will be given to the younger one.

∎ The admission process will be done in phases through the first merit list,
second merit list subject to vacant seats, special quota, and release slip
(more than once if required but not more than two).

∎ Applicants can know the results through the admission website
(www.nu.ac.bd/admissions) and via SMS or from the college notice. To know the
admission result of National University’s Honors Professional course via SMS,
go to your phone’s message option and type,
