Can’t pick up your new passport and wonder if someone can do it for you? Yes, they can! All you need is a Passport Letter of Authorization, which gives someone official authority to pick up your passport on your behalf.
But how do you do that? Read on for the answers, including a ready-to-use letter template.
What is a Passport Letter of Authorization?
In short, a Passport Letter of Authorization is an official document (written and signed by you) that gives a third party “authority” to pick up your passport for you. So who can legally pick up a passport on your behalf? Anyone (such as a family member or friend).
Important note! Suppose you want someone to collect several passports, for example, for your whole family. In this case, you must write separate authorization letters – you may not list more than one document to be picked up in the same letter.
